When recently asked about the work I do at my consulting firm, I remembered this story:
I have called Charleston, SC ‘home’ for 5 years and could paint a pretty clear picture of this place—Gilroy’s serves pizza until 4am, kayaks replace cars during tropical storms, and Spring and Cannon Street ran one-way in opposite directions… until both streets were recently made bidirectional.
Driving Eastbound down Spring Street for the first time felt like interlacing my fingers the opposite way. However, I began to observe new businesses and houses that I never noticed on my regular route. The difference was perspective.
This is what we, as a consulting firm, strive to deliver to our clients—a different perspective. When we remove our personal lens is when solutions present themselves and opportunities become clearer.
Have you ever had an experience where a change in perspective yielded better outcomes?
