Knowledge Capital Group [KCG] has named Dr. Peter Zwerner as a member of its Clinician Advisory Board. Dr. Zwerner is a Professor of Medicine and the Chief Medical Officer of the Medical University of South Carolina Physician Practice, as well as the Co-Chief Medical Officer of MUSC’s integrated Health System.
When asked about this addition to the team, Anthony Powell, Managing Director commented, “As we have worked with regional and national healthcare systems, we heard loud and clear the importance of provider engagement and leadership. And while we structured client delivery teams in this manner, we did not have our own internal team to support this practice – thus was born our Clinical Advisor Board.” Powell continued, “I’m thrilled to have Peter as the inaugural member of our Advisory Board. His clinical perspective, depth of operational experience and interest in novel technologies and approaches to care delivery is well suited for the type of transformational projects we undertake.”
Dr. Zwerner is a member of the Executive Leadership Team of MUSC Health and has held various senior leadership positions with MUSC, including Vice Chair for Clinic Affairs for the Department of Medicine and interim Chief of Cardiology. Improving health care on a global level has been a passion for Dr. Zwerner. He has led an MUSC Global Health initiative that has worked with the Tanzanian government to develop a comprehensive cardiac center of excellence at the Tanzanian National Hospital.
Dr. Zwerner graduated from the George Washington University Medical School and completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Prior to his appointment at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Zwerner was CEO of a large Multispecialty Group and developed a Management Service Organization which was involved in global risk contracting.
